Modern Vs Contemporary Decor Style

With all the different voices that exist in the world, it can be difficult to differentiate what is right and what is wrong. Due to this problem, many think that the modern style of the home decor and the contemporary decorating style of the house are the same. I am here to clarify this confusion and help you understand that they are not the same. Both have their debut and main design features.
Modern design
Modern design began in the 19th century with a German design school. It really became popular in the 1920s and on. It is easier to remember that it relies heavily on the artistic movement called modernism. It is much simpler and cleaner than its predecessors, the Gothic and Victorian styles.
Modern design uses many straight and sharp lines. Plywood was a popular wood of choice because of its simple orientation. It also focuses on natural or neutral colors. These were supposed to be comfortable and did not stand out. However, sometimes strong colors were used as accents, such as cushions or lamps, to give a certain color to the room. The furniture was usually made with long legs holding furniture, sofas and chairs, from the floor. This created an aerial feeling, open to the play.
The design has focused on the use of metal, or light colored wood. In many furniture, you will find compliments in metal, shiny or natural. The main idea was to reduce clutter and open the feel of the house with simple colors, lines and hardware. Modern design is still popular today with many people.
Contemporary design
The contemporary word means "belonging or occurring in the present." This means that contemporary design is what is being created right now. Contemporary design always changes, in five years what is considered contemporary will probably be different from current standards. The design is meant to reflect what people want now, what is being created or produced today.
Many times, contemporary design can incorporate different styles. Modern design is sometimes used in contemporary design because of its clean lines, which is a central focus of contemporary design. Simply because a part of modern design can be used in a contemporary design does not mean they are the same. Many times, the contemporary design fluctuates from one end of the spectrum of colors to another in the same room, while doing the same with the furniture.
Just remember that modern design is what some look like old, or even old. While contemporary design is what is happening now. It is happening now, and it will always be. Now that you know the differences between modern design and contemporary design, you can have fun by noticing the differences and maybe even try a little both in your own home.
