Who Needs a Kitchen Anymore?

Here we are in the 21st century and cars drive by themselves, refrigerators automatically order food in interweb, and most surprisingly of all, Millennials have become the biggest buyers of new homes! You could have deceived me. (See the link for the millennium song below).
And as we move inexorably towards the future, technology is advancing more rapidly than ever in the history of mankind. A perfect example is virtual reality. It has made enormous progress in the real that the created virtual word deceives us into thinking that this is the real world. (Read Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash, written in 1992, for a vision of the future). My nephew works for Microsoft in the virtual reality department and let me try the latest hardware / software. In one program, I felt I was at the top of Mount Everest and another at the bottom of the ocean, choosing clams. I really thought I was there!
So how does that affect our future, or specifically, mine? The days of modern cooking have come to an end. The day before, with the help of Adams, untidy in the garden, they had to start preparing their family for themselves. Hence the need for a functional kitchen. But imagine Adam or Eva putting their headphones VR (virtual reality) and composing in any restaurant they want. Open the virtual menu, tell the avatar (false [virtual] person) the barman what they want and pay with a Bitcoin!
A few minutes later, a driverless car approached his house with his virtual dinner (probably just a little mush) and a robot would ring the bell. I really think it was by far the best meal I have ever had. Virtual Reality 1; Kitchen 0.
Fortunately, it's not as dark as it sounds. Although we are all aged in its place by reading this, we are not even there (although I use Word 2003 in a virtual Windows XP program, it resides somewhere in my Windows 10 computer). Fortunately, we still need kitchens and we will always have a toilet (I think). Our best bet is to try to adapt slowly to the new technology. Talk to Siri and Alexa who are good ways to start and you can always sit in your kitchen to eat, do homework, drink coffee and read the newspaper (while they still exist).
I imagine the kitchens, because we know they will be around for at least twenty or thirty years, so if you plan to remodel, do not wait for them to be obsolete. Reshape now so you can enjoy it for many years. And, if you want to make a jump on things, falling is the best time to start planning and advancing projects.
Hurricanes, nuclear threats and global warming can come and go, but for now, nothing makes you feel better than a kitchen or a new or renovated bathroom. Even if you have to pay the deposit to Bitcoins!
